Daffodil distributes laptops among students

Nearly 5,000 laptops were handed over to the students of Daffodil International University, a reputed private university in Bangladesh, in its 23rd episode of the ‘One Student One Laptop’ project as part of the university’s regular activities.

The programme aimed at facilitating online learning activities for students and adapting each student to the evolving trend of information technology and enhancing skills in competitive job market.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder and DIU’s Permanent Campus Dean Professor Dr. Mostafa Kamal were present, among others, in the programme.

DIU laptop distribution held

THE FREE laptops distribution programme ‘one student one laptop’ of Daffodil International University was held at ‘Swadhinota Milonayoton’ of DIU, Daffodil smart city, Ashulia, on Monday.

University Grants Commission (UGC) member Biswajit Chanda delivered his address as chief guest on the occasion, according to a press release.

 UGC’s private university division director Omar Faruque was also present at the program as the special guest. 

The function was presided over by the DIU acting vice chancellor S M Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder while the programme was attended by treasurer Mominul Haque Majumder, dean Mostafa Kamal and Student Affairs director Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, among others.

DIU provides instant laptop during admission

To keep study unstoppable during Covid-19 pandemic situation, Daffodil International University (DIU) has taken the initiative of delivering instant laptop for newly admitted students in Fall 2020 Semester at the time of admission for attending classes staying at home.
The decision was taken in a management committee meeting held on July 09, 2020. Considering the present pandemic situation, it was decided in the meeting that any student of any Bachelor program (both day and evening) admitted in the Fall 2020 semester will be provided a Laptop instantly at free of cost to ensure uninterrupted class attendance during Covid-19 pandemic situation. Usually, the university provides Laptop to every student after successfully completing one year under “One student One Laptop” project. Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. S M Mahabubul Haque Majumder presided over the meeting.
The authority of DIU has taken a gigantic initiative of “One Student: One Laptop” project since Summer 2010 to prepare a potential ICT skilled graduate to contribute to the nation. It is envisaged that DIU graduates can stand out by competing with other graduates both nationally and globally with their skill that they will acquire from this university.

DIU provides laptop among 2000 students

To prepare the students for 21st century and to adapt them globally with the latest ICT friendly education for developing knowledge, skills and abilities, Daffodil International University (DIU) distributed 2000 laptops at free of cost among the students in the twelfth phase if its continuous process of laptop distribution on Saturday at DIU Permanent Campus at Ashulia, Savar in Dhaka.
Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) was present as the chief guest at the Laptop Distribution Ceremony. Presided over by Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU, the function was addressed among others by Prof Dr Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor, Hamidul Haqie Khan, Treasurer, Prof Dr M Lutfar Rahman, Emeritus Professor and Prof Dr Engineer AKM Fazlul Haque, Registrar of Daffodil International University.
Before distributing the Laptop Emeritus Prof Dr M Lutfar Rahman conducted the oath taking part of the ceremony where the students swore upon regarding the best use of the laptops in academic and education purpose.
The authority of DIU has taken a gigantic initiative of “One Student: One Laptop” program which is one step ahead for digital Bangladesh. Every student admitted into DIU from Summer Semester-2010 and onward is getting a laptop at free of cost. The Laptop will help the students to equip themselves with proper technical knowledge so that they can survive and secure respectable place in the society. Through this initiative DIU students will get the opportunity to implement digital Bangladesh concept
Addressing as the chief guest, Prof Abdul Mannan said, technology is now a part and parcel of teaching and learning. Present government is working relentlessly for the development of the ICT sector of the country and that’s why people now staying in the remote areas can get all sorts of facilities.
He thanked the university authority to implement the project “One Student-One Laptop” with the vision of becoming a Digital University in line with the policy of a step towards Digital Bangladesh. He urged the students to make best use of the laptop, He also said that Freedom Fighters had sacrificed their lives dreaming for a beautiful Bangladesh and young generation should mould themselves to make Bangladesh as Digital Bangladesh proving their efficiency to take Bangladesh in a new height.
Md. Sabur Khan urged the students to be a potential ICT skilled graduate to contribute to the nation ensuring proper utilization and application of the Laptop. It is envisaged that DIU graduates can stand out by competing with other graduates both nationally and globally with their skill that they will acquire from this university.
He wished that the initiate to provide a laptop for each student free of cost will be fruitful and successful with the mission of forgoing a digital society that will ensure an ICT driven knowledge- based nation.
He also said that, DIU is trying to build the students in such a way so that they can contribute to build prosperous Bangladesh who are the main assets to meet the goal. The main focus of the university is to build technology and sports oriented graduates and create new entrepreneurs, he added. “We have already finalized master plan of our permanent campus and development work is going on in full suing accordingly. We provide students with world- class facilities for education, he added. He also said, our dream is to uphold the university among internationally renowned top ranked universities and accordingly university authority is working tirelessly.

DIU distributes laptops among 3000 students

Daffodil International University in association with Daffodil Computers Ltd distributed DCL laptops among some 3000 students of the university on Sunday.

The initiative is part of the university’s ‘One Student: One Laptop’ project, said a release.

The laptop conferring event was held at the DIU Swadhinata Milanayatan.

ICT Division senior secretary NM Zeaul Alam virtually attended the programme as the chief guest where DIU acting vice-chancellor M Mahabub Ul Haque Majumder presided over it.

DIU student affairs director Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju conducted the programme and academic affairs dean Mostafa Kamal addressed it.

Under the ‘One Student: One Laptop’ project, every student admitted into DIU from summer semester 2010 and onwards gets a laptop at free of cost. Some 30,000 laptops have so far been distributed until the date.

DIU gives free laptop to students

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Member of Parliament at Dhaka -10, graced the Laptop distribution ceremony as the chief guest and handed over the laptops to the students.

Addressing as chief guest Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said, Daffodil International University is playing the pioneering role to fulfill the dream of present government's Digital Bangladesh for the last ten years ago. This university is providing the country skilled human resource by educating their graduates with adequate technology oriented knowledge besides academic education. Not only that, Daffodil International University is also preparing its graduates in such a way so that they can contribute accordingly to the development of the country.
Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh also said, laptop is not only an instrument of listening song or enjoying movie but it's an instrument of connecting globally with skilled ICT knowledge, So he urged the student to prepare themselves keeping fit with the demand of global job market trend, he added. Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh urged the students to be a dreamer and be confident to fulfill the dream. From Bangabandhu to Martin Luther King all of them have big dream and they sacrificed their level best for fulfilling their dream. That's why we are living in a beautiful global world now. If we want to make our globe more beautiful then we will have to be a big dreamer.

DIU One Student One laptop change many students life

বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রত্যেক শিক্ষার্থীকে দেওয়া হবে একটি করে ল্যাপটপ—শুরুর দিকে এ পরিকল্পনা অবাস্তব শোনাচ্ছিল। কিন্তু প্রায় ১৫ বছর ধরে এই ধারা বজায় রেখেছে ড্যাফোডিল ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটি (ডিআইইউ)। বেসরকারি এই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কর্তৃপক্ষ বলছে, এ পর্যন্ত তারা প্রায় ৮০ হাজার শিক্ষার্থীকে ল্যাপটপ দিয়েছে, যা তাদের শিক্ষা কার্যক্রমকে করেছে আরও বেগবান।

২০১০ সালে যখন ‘ওয়ান স্টুডেন্ট, ওয়ান ল্যাপটপ’ কার্যক্রম শুরু হয়, তখন থেকেই এর সঙ্গে যুক্ত আছেন মোহাম্মদ আরিফ শেখ। তিনি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের হিসাব বিভাগের সহকারী পরিচালক। আরিফ জানালেন, ল্যাপটপের বিনিময়ে শিক্ষার্থীদের কাছ থেকে কোনো বাড়তি টাকা নেওয়া হয় না। ষষ্ঠ সেমিস্টারের শুরুতেই প্রত্যেক নিয়মিত শিক্ষার্থী নিয়মমাফিক একটি করে ল্যাপটপ হাতে পান। আরিফ বলেন, ‘এটা ড্যাফোডিল গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান মো. সবুর খানের একটা স্বপ্ন ছিল—প্রত্যেক শিক্ষার্থীর একটা নিজস্ব ল্যাপটপ থাকবে। সেই স্বপ্ন পূরণেই আমরা কাজ করে যাচ্ছি। কয়েক মাস আগেও সাড়ে চার হাজার শিক্ষার্থীর হাতে ল্যাপটপ তুলে দেওয়া হয়েছে। ল্যাপটপের মাধ্যমে শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের অ্যাসাইনমেন্ট জমা দিতে পারে, প্রোগ্রামিংয়ের চর্চা করতে পারে। এমনও অনেক শিক্ষার্থী আছে, যারা এই ল্যাপটপ কাজে লাগিয়ে ফ্রিল্যান্সিং করছে, আয় করছে।’
